EIIC’s PMCHA Quality Improvement Collaborative
A quality improvement collaborative (or QI collaborative) provides a framework and structure for teams and their project work. Collaboratives bring together stakeholders from various groups for a specified period of time to address a specific topic. The EIIC’s focus for this collaborative is to create access to mental and behavioral health resources and services in emergency departments. The collaborative will consist of the following materials and activities: access to our quality improvement educational guide; two large-group report-out sessions (February and September), and four focused working sessions (three in April and one in July).
- Quality Improvement Educational Guide (Asynchronous): PMHCA teams will be provided a guide on quality improvement science that will help align PMHCA knowledge with healthcare QI methods for their ED expansion projects. Teams will use this guide to help identify a QI project of their own.
- Large-Group Report Outs: During these meetings, teams will report on their projects to the larger PMHCA community. During the February session, teams will present the following: their identified project, project scope, and SMART aims. During the September session, PMHCA teams will share their implementation work and what was learned.
- Focused Working Sessions: These sessions will allow for smaller groups to focus on specific aims, such as provider-to-provider consultation or ED staff education. Together they will identify key drivers and interventions, and create strategies to overcome obstacles.
