TAIC - Peer-to-Peer Sharing Session: Aligning State PMHCA and MMHSUD Programs

The MCHB TA Innovation Center will be offering a peer-to-peer sharing session for PMHCA and MMHSUD awardees on Aligning State PMHCA and MMHSUD Programs.

Co-facilitators:

Dr. Nancy Byatt, D.O, Executive Director, Lifeline for Families Center & Lifeline for Moms,

Dr. John Straus, M.D, Founding Director of MCPAP

Session Moderator:

Liz Carr, LPC, ACS

This session is scheduled for Monday, March 11, 2023, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Eastern

This facilitated session will follow a small group discussion format that allows for rich interaction among peer awardees to share challenges, lessons learned, and innovative solutions that have been successful. This session will include opportunities to discuss strategies for aligning state PMHCA and MMHSUD programs, based on the group’s interest and priorities.

Please reach out to us at the email below if you have specific topics you would like to have included.

Questions to Guide the Discussion

  1. What resources/aspects have been the most feasible to integrate across MMHSUD and PMHCA programs?
    • If you are part of a newly funded/aligned program, what aspects do you anticipate being the most feasible?
  2. What resources/aspects have been the most challenging to integrate across MMHSUD and PMHCA programs?
    • If you are part of a newly funded/aligned program, what aspects do you anticipate being the most challenging?
  3. What marketing/messaging practices have been used to facilitate program alignment or services available among your MMHSUD and PMHCA programs?
    • If you are part of a newly funded/aligned program, what marketing/messaging practices have you considered? Are there obstacles you anticipate regarding messaging/marketing your aligned programs?
  4. How are team leadership positions/task responsibilities identified once programs merge? (e.g., who will facilitate meetings/case consultations, who will make decisions about what data is collected and where it is kept?)
  5. In what ways do integrated programs leverage resources/staff/technology when it comes to sustainability?
    • If you are part of a newly funded/aligned program, in what ways do you think sustainability efforts can be shared between both programs?
  6. What type of data is collected within merged programs? How is data looked at holistically (MMHSUD and PMHCA program data together) and separately?
  7. Due to the nature of obstetrics and gynecology clinical practice. obstetric providers often find it challenging to find the time to initiate MMHSUD consultations. In what ways can your integrated program support OB practitioners in using the services available to them?

Things to Note:

  • Peer-to-peer learning sessions are designed to promote dialogue among peer PMHCA and MMHSUD awardees using an informal virtual meeting format to discuss challenges, share ideas and successes, and exchange lessons learned in the implementation of your programs about a range of topics.
  • These sessions will be scheduled for an hour, with an extra 30 minutes built in for additional discussion and Q&A for interested participants. Sessions will be “lightly facilitated”, meaning that the floor is yours and facilitators will be there to keep the discussion moving along, but will otherwise be in the background to allow sufficient time and space for you to engage with one another directly.
  • Your feedback on these sessions is welcomed and encouraged. A QR code link to a brief feedback form will be provided at the beginning and end of each session. We want to hear from you!

The Association Between Cannabis Use and Schizophrenia: Causative or Curative? A Systematic Review

Cannabis and schizophrenia/psychosis have a close relationship.
